formation was to rejoin the Airbus consortium
and make the UK the centre for the design and
manufacture of all Airbus wings.

HARRIER – CONQUERING THE VERTICAL
The prototypes that were the forerunner to the
Harrier fl ew in 1960 and under British Aerospace
substantial development continued to refi ne the
design whose effectiveness was proven during
the Falklands confl ict.

THE MULTI-ROLE TORNADO
Tornado enabled BAC/BAe to utilise its variable-
geometry experience and to produce a fi ne
design in collaboration with others. It is a potent
war machine which has been employed by the
RAF in many offensive operations.
