Philippine flag carrier Philippines Airlines took delivery of its first brand new Bombardier Q400 in July. The first aircraft of a twelve Q400

order made its maiden flight from the Bombardier DeHavilland Division production facility at Toronto Downsview Airport (Ont.) on 14 July

2017, wearing Canadian test registration C-FUFX. It was delivered to Philippines as RP-C5901 on 19 July. Five new Dash 8 Q400s were originally

ordered by PAL on December 8 2016, to supplement five Q400s and four Q300s already in the Philippine fleet. The airline then converted seven

purchase options to firm orders at the Paris Air Show on June 19 2017 making for a total of twelve new aircraft. The initial new batch of five

Q400s will be delivered starting in July 2017, with one a month arriving until November. The converted options will start to arrive in March

2018. Five will arrive throughout 2018, with the remaining two in the second half of 2019. They will be configured with 86 seats in two classes.

PAL Express currently operates five Q400s acquired second-hand in 2008 from SAS and Wideroe as well as four Dash-8 Q300s acquired mostly

new (one second-hand) from 2007. (Toronto-Downsview (Ont.), 14 July 2017, Andy Cline)
