airshow (not open to the public) for the festivities of the 100°
anniversario della nascita della Caccia containing the IX,
X, XII, XIII e XVIII Gruppo Caccia. There were three special
painted F-2000A’s: MM7318/36-12 with a special ‘1917-2017
XII Gruppo’ livery featuring the rearing horse on a sand back-
ground, along with the silhouettes of all the aircraft flown
by the squadron since 1917. F-2000A MM7341/36-10 with a
special ‘1917-2017 X Gruppo’ livery featuring Francesco Barac-
ca’s black rearing horse along with a red “Picca” (pike – from
the unit’s radio callsign) and F-2000A MM7340/4-9 with a
special ‘1917-2017 IX Gruppo’ livery sporting the Gruppo’s
white rearing horse and ‘9’ Gruppo number on the left hand
side of the tail and the horse and IX numeral on the right one.

flight at Venegono (VA), but probably the code was applied
in error. MM55218 already carried this code and was spotted
on several occasions. Apparently Leonardo maded a correc-
tion: at the RIAT at Fairford the presumably right code 61-16
was applied.
