Chad

Armee de l’Air du Chad (AF)

On the 1st of July a huge storm struck the capital of Chad,

N’Djamena, also the airport was hit and a significant amount

of aircraft and helicopters of the air force were damaged or

destroyed. Many of the old hangars were damaged and the

newer tent-hangars were ripped apart. Looking at the pictures

on internet the PC-12 mentioned below seems to be written-

off. The Su-25 TT-QAI, Su-25UB TT-QAM, MiG-29 TT-OAP and

AS550C2 TT-OAV suffered some damage. At least another five

AS550s were damaged or destroyed. Some sources reported

no less than eight helicopters were destroyed and five other

helicopters were damaged, but this we can’t confirm yet. The

Presidential Boeing 737, TT-ADB, an An-26, a French C-135FR

and two French CN-235 were spared or just slightly damaged.

Seen landing at Malbork airbase on Monday 19 June 2017 is MiG-29A 54 from 1. Eskadra Lotnictwa Taktycznego (1.elt). Due to runway repairs

at their homebase, eleven MiG-29s from Minsk Mazowiecki deployed to Malbork airbase for a stay until August. (Arnold ten Pas)
