This was transported from the museum to the nearby Lo Errá-
zuriz multi-modal metro/train/bus station on 23 May where
it was installed, hanging from the ceiling on the second floor,
on 23 June. This is an extension of metro line 6 that currently
ends at Cerillos station and is near the cross roads of Avenida
Salvador Allende and Avenida Lo Errázuriz.

384 MNAE ex std SCBQ 40815 apr17
This replaced aircraft 396. The storage at El Bosque obviously
refers to the DdA (División de Abastecimiento - storage divi-
sion), opposite the ENAER factory.

PNP-357 DIRAVPOL w/o 12apr12 13095
We had PNP-357 as being N8220N again with the Department
of State. Strangely, it is still current in USCAR. So, it may have
returned there for repairs and/or upgrade to UH-1H-II.
Uruguay
Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya (AF)
Uruguay expressed interest in some former Italia armed
forces AB212 and AB412 helicopters that will be discontinued
by the Italian Air Force and Capitaneria respectively. This is
all still in a very embryonic phase.

At the end of April, after having participated in the exercise
Frisian Flag at Leeuwarden Air Base in the Netherlands, the
Air National Guard contingent consisting of twelve F-15C/D
Eagle interceptors from Louisiana’s 122ndFS/159thFW and
Florida’s 159thFS/125thFW moved along. First stop was Graf
Ignatievo Air Base in Bulgaria to train and strengthen inter-
operability with the Bulgarian Air Force. From Graf Ignatievo
the contingent moved on 19 June to Campia Turzii Air Base
in Romania for mainly participating in the exercise Dacian
Eagle. They will stay up to the end of August. At this moment,
it is not known where the ANG Eagles will go after their visit
to Romania.
On 23 May 2017, the U.S. Department of defense released
its $639.1 billion Fiscal Year 2018 budget request. Some $2.0
billion in the year 2018 would be reserved for the new, to be
developed by Northrop Grumman, B-21 Raider Long Range
Strike Bomber (LRS-B). At is anticipated that the USAF’s
Global Strike Command will get a minimum of hundred B-21
Raider bombers and it is expected that Initial Operating
Capability (IOC) will be reached by the year 2030.
Lockheed C-5A 70-0448, the oldest operational Galaxy, arrived
at the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group
(AMARG) at Davis Monthan AFB (AZ) on 22 June 2017. With
the latter aircraft taken out of service the last flight hours
for the legacy Galaxies are counted. From the beginning of
2017 till mid-June three C-5A Galaxies were still in opera-
tional use by the 337th Airlift Squadron/439th Airlift Wing
based at Westover Air Reserve Base (MA). All three were seen
multiple times over the past six months, faithfully fulfilling
their tasks, transiting through Ramstein and Spangdahlem
Air Bases in Germany. The last C-5As operated by the USAF
are 70-0448, 70-0451 and 70-0461. Although C-5A 70-0448 has
arrived for storage at AMARG it is anticipated that the last
two are destined for museums and will arrive before the end
of 2017 at their final resting place. 70-0451 is destined to go
to the Travis Air Museum, part of Travis AFB (CA) and 70-0461
is destined to become a part of the National Museum of the
USAF, at Wright Patterson AFB (OH).
Related to the above Galaxy news comes the fact that C-5M
with serial 87-0037 became the first Super Galaxy to be
assigned to the Air Force Reserve Command’s 439th Airlift
Wing at Westover Air Reserve Base (MA) on 2 June 2017. A
total of eight C-5Ms should be in place with the 439th Airlift
Wing by the summer of 2018. The last ever C-5B Galaxy in
the USAF inventory, with serial 87-0043 and characteristic
howling engines, left Westover ARB for the Lockheed Martin
Marietta (GA) facilities on 18 Jan 2017 to get its second life
as a modernized C-5M. The Super Galaxy is a re-engined
version of the U.S. military’s largest aircraft. Along with
Also part of the static at the Tyndall AFB (FL) Open House & Airshow was TH-1H 73-22067/FR. The helicopter is assigned to the 23rd Flying
Training Squadron at Fort Rucker (AL). (23 April 2017, Ramon Berk)
