camera for satellite use. According
to the manufacturer, the pioneering
product shows more eiciency than
the traditional cameras, in addition
to high image quality. he small
cameras were especially developed
for the new nanosatellites, in order
to reduce weight and consump-
tion, without the need of adapta-
tions. Also according to Akaer, the
equipment is capable to take high-
deinition earth surface pictures,
identifying objects with less than
5 meters in up to 7 spectral bands.
he project, which is under devel-
opment, counted on funds from the
Research Support Foundation of the
State of São Paulo (FAPESP) and
the Funding Authority for Studies
and Projects (FINEP).
Also in the space sector, AEL
Sistemas has presented the Mili-
tary Multimission Microsatellite
(MMM), a small sized space plat-
form for application in military
missions with quick response and
low cost for defense demands of
South American countries. AEL’s
most outstanding product was the
Wide Area Display (WAD), to be
used in the Brazilian Gripen NG.
he technology is similar to that
used in the F-35 Lightning when
ofering an intelligent panoramic
display that enhances the man-
machine relation capacity, and it is
the main visual source for interact-
ing with the operational and tactic
environment. he huge display adds
light data, mission information
and engine, system and naviga-
tion parameters, all this by means
of high deinition symbols. WAD
increases situational awareness
and allows better management of
combat means, reports AEL. he
Brazilian Gripen will be one of the
world’s irst aircrats to have the
new technology.
