A scale model requires a scale pilot in the cockpit, and again the
choice was easy: the 1:5 scale Euro Jet Pilot produced by Tailored
Pilots from the UK.
The glues used for the assembly were as follows: Hysol EA 3425,
ZAP Epoxy 5 and 30 min. and Zap Medium Cyano.

Assembly


As usual, we spent some time checking the fitting of the various
parts, and we found ourselves very satisfied as everything went
together without any problems. Also the nice carbon made wing
tube was a perfect fit without being too tight to insert in the wings
or fuselage. The kit includes all the hardware needed, but unfortu-
nately no hinges for landing gear and nose doors.
Something that left us disappointed was the manual: it shows very
little of the assembly, possibly as in most cases the landing gear,
doors and airbrakes have been installed at the factory, so there
was no choice but to decide ourselves which door hinges we were
to use and their exact positioning. For the main landing gear
doors, we chose the classic white plastic door hinges; we had to
cut the doors to allow the hinges to be slid into place, and then we
glued them with Hysol.
The front landing gear door and the fuselage nose doors are a dif-
ferent story: we made our own “C” shaped hinges to obtain the
right amount of movement. We have to thank our friend Marco
Baldini, who had his FB L-39 1:4.8 ready as we started the assem-
bly, this helped clear the way for us with the doors; we’ll talk more

Osvaldo Gotta of Osvy Model made the dual wall thrust tube: the main tube is titanium, the
outer tube is light aluminium and the bellmouth is carbon fibre.....it weights just 277 gr.!
