The stripped fuselages of three CH-47F Chinooks were

reported in the scrap compound at Middletown-Summit

Airport (DE). During 2017, Boeing was awarded a contract to

upgrade three CH-47F Block I helicopters to Block II status at

their Philadelphia (PA) location. Conversion of these three

prototypes is due to take place in 2018 and all three should

commence flight testing in 2019. The press release at that

time stated that the helicopters would be disassembled by

Summit Aviation at their Middletown (DE) location prior

to being sent to Boeing for the upgrade. Just like with the

CH-47D to CH-47F conversion, it is very well possible that

only certain components of the older helicopters are being

used but that the majority of the airframes actually will be

newly built.

HH-65 (SA365F1) is still one of the few Chilean Navy helicopters flying around without any visible serial on the outside. The code, 3, was given

by one of the pilots, which makes this the 53 of HU-1. The Dauphin was performing together with the AS332L at the FIDAE 2018. (Santiago-
