FINAL VERDICT

AFV Club has not just taken 1:144 scale by storm, they have chosen to be arguably the new leaders in the scale. I
wouldn’t say helicopters are rare in 1:144, they exist but are certainly not plentiful - really good helicopter kits
with superb detail are even more scarce! What we have here is an exceptional helicopter kit, two in fact. Although
there are some fl aws, the larger clear plastic sections being my biggest criticism, the kit as a whole is breathtaking
in both design and research.
The Sweet Sea King kits were already excellent kits but cannot stand up to the AFV Club offering where detail and
accuracy is concerned.
I really believe AFV Club have set the bar here for 1:144 Helicopter design. There is so much this kit can offer.
Alternative in-box markings for these builds are an Indian Navy example and another US Navy example which I’m
confi dent was used during the Vietnam confl ict during 1972.
However, with more aftermarket decals already becoming available, the possibilities and opportunities open here to
the builder make this kit even more interesting!
I highly recommend this kit and I’m very excited to see will AFV Club move forward with this concept and release more
Sea King variants.

the outer folded blades on each
side of the fuselage. I detailed and
fi nished this in similar fashion to the
US Navy build with oils and
clear coats.
As both builds came to an end
I was surprised to discover the
Canadian example, which was not
my fi rst choice was now in fact my
favourite. I loved the folding system
and the little extra work I put into
this variant. ■
