46 MODEL AIRPLANE INTERNATIONAL - June 2018

SKILL LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

KIT BUILD

FINAL VERDICT

It’s not perfect and needed a few tweaks here and there to help things a long and there are a couple of weak areas
such as the solid exhaust stubs and gun ports, sloppy locating points on the gear legs and despite the lack of seat
belts, the cockpit is a real highlight and the model certainly looks like the Mustang. Despite all of this it was a
really enjoyable build and the fi nished model certainly has presence in this scale.
It really is diffi cult to argue with this kit for value for money though!

Micro Sol setting solutions.
The weathering was completed using artists
oils for a wash and some exhaust staining with
heavily thinned Gunze H343 Soot airbrushed
on in gentle waves to build up the effect until I
was happy with it.
The undercarriage and their doors fi tted
okay, though they were a little fi ddly and
could do with some fi rmer attachment points,
especially the main gear legs to their sockets
and the large inner gear doors took some care
to attach correctly. The other last few bits all
fi tted easily and without stress including the
main canopy and the drop tanks. ■
