dirty. I added a panel line wash and a little
bit of staining behind the panels using Ammo
Deep Brown panel line wash and added a few
scrapes using a standard B pencil. I glued
the tanks in places using Tamiya Extra Thin
cement and strengthened the joint with a few
drops of Rocket Hot Cyano glue.
The undercarriage in the kit is the stock
Kinetic pieces, with added wheels. This was
relatively straightforward to piece together
with only the seam lines scraped off. I gave it
a coat of white paint and a black wash around
the shadows and reliefs. I also used this effect
to weather the tyres, adding just a faint touch
of dust to the edges of the tyres. I added
the gear doors and construction, with the
exception of the canopy was complete.
I had deliberately left the two ejection seats
until late in the build, due to not wanting to
damage them during the painting process.
The two Mk.4 seats supplied by Wingman,
surprisingly, did not fi t straight into the resin
cockpit insert. I had to do quite a bit of
trimming from the sides, were it would not be
visible. These were basically painted in Hataka
Blue line acrylic paints, over a Mr Surfacer
Primer Coat. The fi nal touches and highlights
on the belts and cushions were added using
the Oil Brushers once again. I have used this
method in my previous 4 or 5 builds and
found it to be a very affective.
The fi nal stage was to add the
canopy. This was masked and
given a spray of Gunship
Gray, the etched
mirrors added and it
was then glued
into place.

FINAL VERDICT

This kit is a great kit, no mistakes. The resin pieces fi t together
nicely and the detail in them is great. If I could suggest
improvements it would be to ditch the vac-form canopies and try
to use injection moulded as I did struggle with these. It builds
up well and looks good on my display shelves. The nightmare of
dropping the model withstanding, this was a really enjoyable build.
My thanks to Spencer and Wingman Models for the supplied kit.
