NEW RELEASES: DECALS


More lovely decal sheets from Lowestoft this month, we have more sets of 1:72 RAF Phantom
squadron markings and two WWII 1:48 sheets for forthcoming kits.

ROYAL AIR FORCE MCDONNELL DOUGLAS FGR.2
PHANTOMS PT3 (SHEET NO. X72292)

Here we have a further fi ve RAF Phantoms to keep the 1:72 Phantom ‘Phans’ happy. All fi ve are in the
same early RAF Phantom colours of a pattern of Dark Sea Grey and Dark Green on the upper surfaces
and Light Aircraft Grey undersides. Sets of roundels and fi n fl ashes are supplied for all fi ve aircraft.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV400 ‘C’ with No. 56 Squadron at RAF Coningsby in 1976.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV413 ‘Z’ with No. 92 Squadron at RAFG Wildenrath in July 1977.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV439 ‘A’ with No. 19 Squadron at RAFG Wildenrath in July 1977.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV434 ‘J’ with No. 23 Squadron at RAF Wattisham in July 1976.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV498 ‘498’ with No. 17 Squadron at RAFG Brüggen in June 1974.

ROYAL AIR FORCE MCDONNELL DOUGLAS PHANTOMS
FGR.2 ALCOCK & BROWN SCHEME (SHEET NO. X72297)

Three aircraft on this sheet but two of them differ only in their serial numbers. The Transatlantic
Anniversary scheme was applied to two aircraft, the one making the fl ight and a spare.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV424 with No. 56 Squadron. The special anniversary fl ight markings were
applied to a Phantom painted overall Light Aircraft Grey. This is as displayed at Greenham Common
International Air Tattoo in July 1979.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV486 in the same markings as the above but with a different serial number.
● Phantom FGR.2 XV424 ‘I’ with No. 56 Squadron. This is 01 above but in standard late Phantom
colours of three greys and a Signal Red tail fi n. This airframe is preserved and on display in the RAF
Museum at Hendon.
