Stellar Line-Up for Cosford

The Aviation News-supported Cosford
Airshow is shaping up to be one of
the UK season’s highlights, with an
impressive line-up of ying displays and
a static park expected to feature over 100
aircraft. Among the eye-catching military

machines due to perform on June 10
are a Polish MiG-29 Fulcrum, a Dutch
KDC-10 tanker, a privately-owned Bristol
171 Sycamore helicopter and a Westland
Whirlwind.
The static park is to be divided into

four zones that will commemorate the
RAF’s centenary. The themes are:
Policing the Empire; World at War; Age
of Uncertainty and New Millennium. The
Cosford team told Aviation News that
aircraft from the resident RAF Museum
will be given a very rare airing outside
during the event, with such classics as
the Boulton Paul De ant, Bristol M1c,
Gloster Gladiator and Gloster Meteor
F9/40 being earmarked for the show.
Additionally, the RAF’s Cosford-
based Defence School of Aeronautical
Engineering will also be providing airframes
from the Cold War, with a Harrier GR3,
Tornado GR 1s and an F3. A handful of
engineering trainer Jaguars will also make
an appearance in the static, and at least
some of these are expected to carry special
paint schemes or anniversary tail markings.
As with many events these days, the
show is all ticket, and these must be bought
in advance. http://www.cosfordairshow.co.uk

De Havilland Dove N772S was one of the star
attractions at the 2018 Sun ‘n Fun International
Fly-in and Expo at Lakeland, Florida, in early
April. The Dove (c/n 04467) is one of only four
examples still airworthy, worldwide.
Owned by Don Macrum of Vestavia,

Alabama, this aircraft was originally based in
Venezuela as YV-P-BAP and was converted
by Riley Aeronautics in the US as a Riley
400 Exec in 1966, being re-engined with

400hp Lycoming IO-720 powerplants and
tted with a swept tail, airstair entry door
and new interior. The Dove underwent a
full restoration in 2013, being upgraded
with modern avionics and is now based at
Bessemer, Alabama. Rod Simpson
