lapseinmilitaryorderswhenpeacecame.However,therewerereturningflyerskeentokeeptheirskillsaliveandtheAutocratanditssuc-

cessorsweresuccessful,notonlyintheUKbutalsoacrosstheworld.Usingthesamebasicairframe,theAusterconstantlychangeditsshape

andthe180hpHuskyof1960wasaverydifferentanimalfromtheoriginal55hpTaylorcraftModelC.

Austersweresoldallovertheworldandwereusedformanytasksincludingcropspraying,aerialadvertisingandjoyriding.Thecompany

alsodevelopednewmodelsincludingtheverysuccessfulAOP.9,andthelesssuccessfulAgricola,AtlanticandAvis.Thisisthestoryofan
