Mitsubishi Zero
At many of the smaller competitions
where only carrier and scale are fl own
you can end up with a fare amount
of spare time if you only fl y CL scale.
Therefore to occupy this time I decided
to try my hand at Class 1 Scale carrier.
The model I would use would be the well
feared Mitsubushi A6M5 Zero.
Plans were enlarged for a model of
36 inch wing span from the aircraft
described 3-view Number 124 by D. H.
Cooksey in the July 1963 issue of old

AeroModeller. My local photocopy shop
enlarged the drawing to give me the 36
inch span and I used this as the basis
for my DIY plan. The colour scheme for
the fi nished model came from Profi le
Publications No. 236 Mitsubishi A6
M5 Zero-Sen (Zeke 52) booklet. The
model was constructed from balsa
and lite ply using my usual central keel
(this time vertically) method of fuselage
construction.
Flying power would be supplied from
a HobbyKing electric F1 pylon race
