PAUL MONAF
A VIEW FROM THE TOP
The Ai500 has grown to become
a very popular event and one of
the biggest series of games in
the UK. A tribute to our success is
the speed in which these events
constantly sell out, which I can only
thank our players for.
Our USP has always been to find
unique and challenging venues
(some have never been used as a
skirmish field before). However this
can sometimes create problems
within it’s own rights. Have we
made mistakes? Of course we
have and we will more than likey
continue to do so, in some shape
or form but with every event the
Management team learns, fine
tunes and strives to deliver better
packages for our players to enjoy.
Do we please all of our players all
of the time? Of course we don’t,
but that’s the nature of running
large-scale Airsoft events and we
will aways come away thinking we
could have done things a bit better
in some areas.
I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all of the staff
for their tireless hard work and
commitment, Dave Porter and his
boys and also a huge thanks goes
to John Dean at Fire Support for
allowing us to raid his Aladdin’s
Cave of a prop store!
RICHARD MITCHELL
EVENT DIRECTOR
After months of planning, endless
conference calls (many hours) with
the Ai500 team the event was
suddenly here. It was my first event
as the “Boss”
And to say it was challenging and
a bit scary to say the least was an
understatement.
With lots of ideas, missions and
side missions, we arrived at 08:00
Friday morning to get the many
props ready (thanks John Dean),
scrap cars had to be put into
position, which would become a
focal point to the weekend, with
many players naming this area as
the “Scrap Yard”.
I would like to give the Ai500
team a massive well done for their
hard work, it takes a lot to get these
events ready and the team is always
there to do whatever it takes to give
you guys a great event. By Friday
evening the team were shattered,
and it was an early night for us all.
Saturday’s highlights for me were
the first game which seemed to be
a hit with everyone, and the last
30 mins when the Tans had been
dominating the Greens all day and
from nowhere the Greens took
control and owned the Tans which
was pretty impressive.
Sunday’s highlight for me was
after lunch when the Greens lost
60% of their force and to keep the
game flowing I had no option but to
ask Mike Arnett (Tan Commander)
for some of his guys to move over
to the Green Team, which in my
opinion showed great Ai500 family
values.
Airsoft is a game of trust and
good sportsmanship, without these
values we might as well pack up
and head home, what I witnessed
on Sunday captured the spirit of
Airsoft for me.
