SALIENT ARMS SAI EMG 1911 - IN ASSOCIATION WITH ZEROONEAIRSOF T.COM

WHAT MAKES THE SAI 1911 TICK?
Removing the slide from the frame is incredibly
easy, and done in the normal fashion... remove
the magazine, pull the slide back so that the
first notch lines up to the nub on the release
lever, and then push the lever from the
opposite side of the pistol. The slide will then
just pull away from the pistol, and you’ll have
access to the hopup and all the other internals.
The hop dial and the loading nozzle are crafted
from a very robust red plastic, and the recoil
spring guide is an iRocketi, and made from
steel. On inspection, the internals are strong,
made to decent tolerances, and move freely
when manipulating them. They seem well
greased too. One feature I noticed is that the

outer barrel is slightly flared, and looks almost
conical in shape towards the end. After playing
around with this for a short while, I noticed that
this shape keeps the outer barrel straighter
as the pistol cycles but still allows it to move
freely, and this will help with accuracy and
consistency. A nice touch I thought. The hop
was very easy to adjust, and kept its position
during my next round of tests.

OPERATING
So to start with, I’ll mention that this platform
is a dual fuel pistol, meaning you can use either
green gas or CO2, through having to change
nothing more than the magazine itself. The

model on review is using a green gas magazine,
and through the chrono, it achieved a very
consistent 314 feet per second on 0.20 BB’s,
and after the first couple of shots saw nothing
more than plus or minus 2 feet per second
variance. Not bad! It also has to be noted that
the recoil was exceptionally crisp and quite
heavy, and that I wasn’t expecting given the
overall weight of the gun. This thing really does
kick like a mule, and it’s loud too, really loud!
For the sake of argument I tried it with Nuprol’s
Black 4.0 gas, where I had an average chrono
reading of 347. CO2 will likely achieve the same
or higher, so would probably be a great winter
option when GBB’s see a general reduction in
FPS due to the cold weather.

WITH IT'S GOLD COLOURED COMPONENTS, IT SHOUTS AT YOU
EVERY TIME YOU PULL THE TRIGGER, AND IT’S HEAV Y ENOUGH TO

BEAT YOUR WAY THROUGH A BRICK WALL SHOULD YOU SO WISH.
