STEP 1
First, remove the slide from your Glock by removing the magazine, pulling
the slide back, then pushing it forward and off the frame while you hold the
slide release buttons down on either side.

STEP 2
Push the recoil spring and rod forward a little, then lift them clear of the
slide, before sliding the barrel and hop assembly forward, then lifting it up
and back out too.

THE INNER BARREL
STEP 3
If you’re not fitting a new outer barrel, you can skip down to step 7,
otherwise very gently prize the plastic of the original outer barrel apart
where it wraps around the hop unit, then slide the inner barrel and hop out.
You don’t need to bend it much, so don’t go mad and break it!

STEP 4
Take your new steel outer barrel and unscrew the two parts. This is to allow
the inner barrel assembly to move enough to fit, as you can’t prize this one
apart! Put a good smear of lithium grease inside the hop unit, as everything
needs to move around in here. I spray my grease onto a piece of board,
then pick it up and wipe it in.

STEP 5
Jiggling the inner barrel and hop assembly into the steel rear section is
actually quite a fiddle – it took me about twenty minutes to get it to go.
Don’t force it too hard, and don’t lose your patience – it will go in the end,
even if it does need a little gentle persuasion.

STEP 6
Put some grease on the outside of your inner barrel, then some threadlock
on the rear section before screwing on the front of the outer barrel. Make
sure you use light threadlock suitable for fine threads, like BondLoc B222
Screwlock (available from your local hardware store or online).
