Aviation Specials – June 2018

(ff) #1

Celebrating a British icon 127

To some extent these reductions
reflect changes in demand,
though in some cases Transport
for London had made changes
to adjacent routes in order to
provide extra capacity.
As an example, when changes
were made to the long route
25 from Oxford Street to Ilford
(covered in 2013), frequency
changes were made at the same
time to route 425 between
Stratford and Lower Clapton.
As it happens, the future of
the central London section of
the 25, in common with that of
other routes on the same axis,
hangs in the balance pending
the opening of the east-west
Elizabeth Line railway in 2019.
If substantial numbers of users
switch from bus to rail, that
section could be reduced or
simply discontinued. ● PR
