trainer remains the workhorse

of the Flygvapnet’s (Swedish

Air Force’s) fixed-wing pilot

school. AFM visited the

Luftstridsskolan in Malmen

and discovered a flying training

setup with a unique philosophy:

a ‘Nordic’ culture where it’s not

all about grades, and where the

traditional military hierarchy is

almost non-existent.
