There were plenty present. First
prize in the competition for the
best tiger colour scheme was
awarded to the Ghost Tiger, a
Luftwa e Eurofi ghter assigned to
Taktisches Luftwa engeschwader
74 (74th Tactical Wing) ‘Bavarian
Tigers’ based at Neuburg Air Base.
Another fi rst place trophy was
presented to 313 Squadron, Royal
Netherlands Air Force for nothing
less than the best squadron;
the unit is equipped with F-16
Fighting Falcons and based at
Volkel Air Base.
In addition to the resident
aircraft, other F-16s from Belgium,
Greece and the Netherlands
took part, as did Eurofi ghters
from Italy, Germany and Spain,
JAS 39 Gripens from the Czech
Republic and Hungary, French
Rafale Ms, Austrian Saab 105s,

German Tornados and Polish
Su-22 Fitters. On the rotary wing
side of the house, participants
were Czech Air Force Mi-24Vs,
French SA342M Gazelles, Italian
AB212ICOs and Royal Navy
Merlins. The only large aircraft
involved was a NATO E-3A Sentry
operating from nearby Poznan-
Lawica airport.
According to one Polish pilot,
many of the participants were
happy about the organization of
this year’s Tiger Meet and said: “If
they are happy, we are happy”.
Tiger Meet 2019 is due to be
hosted by the Armee de l’Air’s
BA118 Mont-de-Marsan in South
West France, home of two NATO
Tiger Association squadrons; the
Rafale-equipped Spa 162 and the
test squadron operating all three
fast jet types remaining in Armee
de l’Air service.
