We shared a great walk through several neighbourhoods with nearly 50 photographers!
We experienced commercial and residential areas, lots of textures, colours, geometry, and
people, all in shadows and bright sunshine (but thankfully no rain this time!). The images in this
magazine represent this diversity of subjects to photograph, as well as the diversity of the 35
photographers who submitted them.
The feedback on the last issue was fantastic - both the praise and the suggestions for changes
were very much appreciated. We’ve made some of those changes accordingly, as well as
continuing to trickle in a few new ideas of our own. We’re really looking forward to hearing your
thoughts on them all.
One of the changes you’ll notice is the removal of the pre-walk section. In part, this was out
of practicality. Only the three heads of the group went on the pre-walk and Ben didn’t even get
any photos because he forgot to charge his camera batteries. However, dropping this section
was always part of the plan anyway as it makes the magazine more focused on the communal
experience of the group walk. At the end of the day, this group is about the community and the
experiences we share together.
In place of the pre-walk section, we have added a few interlude spreads throughout
the magazine. Each showcases the different perspectives our members can find while
photographing the same subjects. It has always been one of the more fascinating aspects of the
walks and it’s now a little easier to compare and contrast without having to flick between pages. It
also means some members get a bonus photo or two featured beyond their top four.
Thanks to all who participate in Bangkok Photographers – it’s you who make this a positive and
creative group. We look forward to seeing you at future walks, and feel free to bring friends who
share an interest in photography.
Have fun,
Greg, Ben and Mark.
