Aero Vodochody Launches F/A-259 Striker
Aero Vodochody’s latest product is the
F/A-259 Striker, developed with Israel
Aerospace Industries (IAI) and launched
at Farnborough. The Striker, described as
a “multi-role aircraft for close air support,
counter-insurgency operations and border
patrolling with interception capabilities”,
is derived from the L-159 Advanced Light
Combat Aircraft (ALCA). The new model
adds a ‘wet’ wing and is able to operate
from unpaved runways. As an optional
upgrade, the F/A-259 can be equipped
with an active electronically scanned array
(AESA) radar and helmet-mounted display,
plus an air-to-air refuelling capability.
Benjamin Cohen, general manager of
IAI’s Lahav Division, said: “Our co-operation
with Aero Vodochody offers the USAF
impressive proven performance of the
F/A-259, with new innovative IAI systems,
to provide customers with aircraft that meet
their OA-X requirements.”
Aero Vodochody also announced two
new sales of its L-39NG/CW jet trainer
during the event. A letter of intent was
signed with RSW Aviation, a military training
provider in the US, to deliver 12 L-39NG
aircraft and the upgrade of six legacy L-39s
into the L-39CW variant. RSW plans to
utilise its L-39NG/CW eet alongside its
existing Shorts Tucanos.
Meanwhile, it also announced a binding
agreement with SkyTech, which provides
military aviation services and funding
solutions, to deliver ten L-39NGs, and has
taken options on an additional six aircraft.
H125 Delivered to ETPS
Airbus Helicopters H125, G-ETPG, was present in the aircraft static
park and handed over to QinetiQ’s Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS).
It will receive four H125s, which will make up the school’s new
generation, single-engined helicopter eet. Each will receive complex
customisation by Airbus Helicopters’ UK design team, featuring, among
other items, a three-axis autopilot and a traffic awareness system. They
will also have a Flight Test Instrumentation suite installed that can
transmit data to the ETPS base at MOD Boscombe Down, Wiltshire,
in real time, enabling students, both in practical and class-based
environments, to test and evaluate aircraft design and performance.

likely 737-400s will be re-purposed for the freighter role rst. An order
for ve 747-8Fs, announced at the 2016 Farnborough International
Airshow, was also con rmed.
Alexey Isaykin, president of Volga-Dnepr Group and chairman of
CargoLogicHolding, said: “CargoLogicAir, part of CargoLogicHolding,
