Scale aviation modeller international

(Martin Jones) #1
FINAL BITS
I now added the rocket pods,
propeller, and undercarriage.
The legs splayed out a bit but
fortunately, it is a small, light
model so I’m not particularly
concerned about them collapsing.
If you are moving the model
around a lot it might be worth
investing in a set of Scale Aircraft
Conversions metal legs (32113).
To inish I added the propeller
and itted the various aerials,
and once again I replaced the
plastic parts for the large whip
aerial on the cockpit roof with
another piece of thin metal rod.

CONCLUSION
Roden’s Bird Dog is not a “shake and
bake” kit. I had Issues with fit and the
amount of part cleanup may frustrate
some modellers new to the hobby.
The way the plans jump backwards
and forwards between areas of the
model is also a bit frustrating.
But it is not an unbuildable
model. In fact, I found it an enjoyable
challenge, and would happily
build another one and would love
to give Roden’s O2 Skymaster
a go (hint hint Mr. Editor!)
It is a kit that needs a bit of
time and patience to complete,
but at the end you will get a lovely
little replica of an important
but overlooked aeroplane.

The four lifting loops on the cockpit roof. They
needed careful cleanup due to flash

The correct colour is ADC Grey, not “Natural Steel”
