Wingnut Nut Wings attended

SMW at Telford for the for the

irst time this year and had their recently

announced Avro Lancaster on display.

However, they were keen to stress

that this kit is still a year away from

production and a lot of work still needs

to be carried out in a number of areas

including the external surface detail.

This kit is expected to be available

towards the end of 2019.

Flying the Flag

T

he DH Comet was the worlds irst jet airliner

but after a number of fatal air crashes

had to undergo a major redesign. By the

time the Comet 4 entered service the British lead

in jet airliner development had been lost.

But the type still had a long service life with no less

than 48 being operated by Dan Air and this is the irst

airliner marking option that Mach one have chosen

for their new 1/72nd scale

kit. An RAF C4 has also been

released if you must have

military markings and I

am sure further options

will appear in due course.

As they did at this years

show for last years Bristol

Britannia which now comes

with 4 more marking

options for British airliners

for the 1960s and 1970s.

Retriever

A

surprise announcement

from Mikro Mir is a kit of

the Piasecki HUP-1 Retriever H-25 Mule. Built

in the 1950s as an early attempt at a twin rotor utility

helicopter powered by a Continental R-45 radial engine.

The initial CAD drawings show this

will be quite a detailed model for its size

and will be available early in 2019.
