Scale aviation modeller international

(Martin Jones) #1

L

ast month I opened
by mentioning the
samples from Eday
which were surrounding me,
well the pile has gone down
as they start to be sent out to
the review team and I try and
get a little more organised.
One of the reasons to attempt
to be more organised is
that, as I write, in a week
from now Scale Model World
(SMW) will be over and no
doubt there will be a few
more samples to sort out!
(After burning the midnight
oil it has been possible to
squeeze in some last-minute
news from Telford)

CZECH

Yes, a Tempest for Telford!

EDUARD

T

he queue for the Eduard
stand was rather long
Saturday and I saw quite a
few happy modellers clutching the
brand new long awaited 1/48 scale
early Hawker Tempest. We were
lucky enough to secure a sample
of this kit, we will bring you a full
in box review and build as soon as
we can, but in the meantime, here
are some images of the parts!
The other kits for December
release will keep most modellers
happy, especially this one! First up
in 1/48 scale as a Limited Edition
we have a duel combo boxing of
the Albatros D.III Oefag 153/253,
the boxing is titled ‘Viribus Unitis’
and has markings for pilots of
the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Also, in 1/48 scale, this time in

the Weekend line, Eduard have
released their Fw 190A-4, with
two markings options, including
one featuring a diamond scheme
that will tax your airbrush skills!
Eduard have scaled down their
1/48 scale ‘Legie’ limited edition
Spad XIII and the kit has now
been released featuring their 1/72
scale Spad XIII. The kit features
markings of Czech Pilots who lew
during the First World War on the
allied side and also markings for

Czechoslovak Spads of the 1920s.
As ever Eduard have lots of kits
and Brassin accessories to ofer
over the coming months, with
something to tempt most modellers!

Rotabuggy at Telford

MH MODELS

I

t was really good to see MH
Models at Eday and get news
of their irst conversion
kit. MH Models have featured

in the accessories section with
their mask sets, but the set they
announced at Eday is their irst
conversion kit. It is to convert a
1/35 scale Tamiya Jeep into the
Hafner Rotabuggy, basically a

jeep with rota blades! (For UK
modellers a replica is housed at the
Museum of Army Flying, Middle
Wallop). The Hafner Rotabuggy
was a prototype that never went
into production, the idea was that
the jeep would vaguely work like a
sort of autogyro and deliver troops
to the battleield. Thankfully it
was decided that gliders would
be more efective! As well as

being available in 1/35 scale the
set will be scaled down to 1/48
and 1/72 scales. I have already
acquired an Academy 1/72 scale
Jeep in anticipation of the 1/72
scale release early next year!
MH Model must have pulled out
the stops as they had this kit ready
for sale at Scale Model World, we
have a sample and we will bring
you a look as soon as we can.
