BELLANCA CH/J-300
First look at Dora Wings 1/72 Bellanca CH/J-300 by Bob Housedon
KIT NUMBER: 72001
T
he latest Dora Wings kit
is the Bellanca CH-300
Pacemaker and comes in a
box with some very nice artwork
on the lid though according to
my refrences the colours of the
Bellanca CH/J300 on the box art is
far redder than the actual orange
colour. Although this is correctly
described in the instructions.
Inside the box you will ind
69 well detailed light grey plastic
parts on 4 runners, the rib efect
on the wings and control surfaces
look good as does the detail on the
well. There are also 2 resin wheel
spats, 23 photo etched parts and 3
clear parts. The kit also contains
a set of canopy masks and a nicely
printed decal sheet with 3 colourful
schemes, the instruction sheet is
also in full colour. All the parts are
well packed in separate poly bags.
Using the parts supplied in the
kit you can build three variations
on the basic airframe.
- Bellanca CH-300 lown
by 2 Lithuanian pilots from
the USA to Poland in 1933
which is orange overall.
- Bellanca CH-300 lown
- Bellanca J-300 lown from
New York to Istanbul in 1931,
this is orange with a black
cowl ring and fuselage top.
- Bellanca J-300 lown from
- Bellanca J-300 East Boston
Airport 1930, this has a
light grey fuselage with
grey blue wings and tail.
- Bellanca J-300 East Boston
Out of the box this looks like a
very impressive package and
should build well. I have already
started work and a full build review
will follow in a future issue.
