OFFICIAL - The World is not ending!

espite a small diversion
into World War II Wingnut
Wings have not and will
not stop expanding their range
of World War One aircraft. We
already have a number of reissues
due later this year and now we

have been told that we will have a
new tooled Halberstadt CI.II Escort
Fighter and Infantry support
aircraft that entered service in
1917 until the end of the war.
The kit will be released in two
boxings covering both early and

late production
variants and
each will include
five marking
options and
at least one of
these will be
quite colourful.
My favourite
in the late
boxing has an
overall black
fuselage with
white striped
down the length of the fuselage.
Even better all the stripes
are supplied as decals.
Both versions of the Halberstadt
C1.II will be released in November/

December 2018 and we are promised
news of more World War One
releases soon. Will I get my Fokker
Triplane or Razor? Watch this space.

R

oden has announced that they are
modifying the tooling of their
push–pull Cessna O-2 Skymaster
in 1/32 scale to make the most aggressive
version, the Lynx. Heavily modified
in the 1970s these aircraft look like
something from Mad Max with cannon
pods under the wings and machine gun
pods mounted above the fuselage.
The Rhodesian Air Force used
the Lynx as a close support aircraft
and four carried on in service with
Zimbabwean Air Force into the 1980s.
They have also announced they are
scaling down there 1/32 scale O-1 Birddog to
1/48 scale which will be welcomed by many
with an interest in the Vietnam War period.
Both kits should be available
by the end of year.

You heard it here first!

fter a very brief appearance for
under an hour and apparently by
accident on an Airfix press release
in January we reported that Airfix would
be producing and all new tool 1/48 scale
Griffon Engined Supermarine Spitfire. Now
we have official confirmation that a Spitfire
FR MK.XIV will be released in 2019 and a
test shot may be on display at Telford.
Also, due soon is the long awaited Me262B-1a
Night Fighter in 1/72 scale and as has become the
norm for Airfix the box art is stunning. Finally, a
rumour has it that Telford there is to be another
new announcement at 11 am on the Saturday.
The last time we had a BIG announcement like
this it was the 1/24 scale Hawker Typhoon!
