WARSHIPS AND SUBMARINES. THE MISSIONS WERE VERY MUCH AN ALLIED EFFORT,
AS DEMONSTRATED BY THIS 1950S-60S PORTFOLIO PROVIDED BY ANDREW THOMAS.
HUNTERS
The US Navy brought the capable P-3A Orion into service in the early 1960s – this example from
VP-49 ‘Woodpeckers’ is patrolling over the Atlantic in early 1964. USNCanada’s share of anti-ship/sub work was performed by the CL-28 Argus once the Lancaster
was retired. An example of the former (serial 20715), is seen with its 404 Squadron crew in
