FLYPAST AIRSHOW GUIDE 2018 3

2018

A

s far as the UK is concerned,
2018 is the ‘big one’: the 100th
anniversary of the Royal Air
Force. This theme will dominate
the year’s events and looks set to
see some of the highest-quality
participation for many a season.
Indeed, it would be no exaggeration
to say that Britain is the centre of
the airshow universe in 2018. Some
very impressive salutes to the RAF
past, present and future are being
planned, and there will be significant
international involvement, both military and civil.
This is not to say that overseas shows won’t offer rich pickings:
far from it. But UK show-goers, whether their interest lies on the
historic or modern side of aviation, can look forward to a quite

exceptional calendar. Can there be any better incentive to lend
your support more enthusiastically than ever? Ben Dunnell
