COMMEMORATING THE 75TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FAMOUS WWII RAID

Historian and TV presenter Dan
Snow (also recently announced as
the patron of Stow Maries Great
War Aerodrome – see News) will
host official commemorations
at the Royal Albert Hall on May
17, and will introduce the second
screening of the restored film. The
one-off event will be simultaneously
broadcast into over 300 cinemas
nationwide. Tickets for the London
show are available from: http://www.

“It’s really pleasing that the new
version of the film debuted at the
International Bomber Command
Centre,” affirms John. “It looks
amazing on the big screen. At the
Royal Albert Hall we’ll be projecting
it on to a 40ft screen in 4K, so it
will certainly look striking. I think

people attending these events will
see the difference in the quality of
the imagery. You’ll see more detail
in the aerial footage, and more than
anything it represents how it was
always intended to be.”
If you can’t catch the new version
of the film at a cinema, The Dam
Busters will be released on DVD
and Blu-ray via Studiocanal’s
Vintage Classics label from June
4, with extras set to include an
exclusive Making of The Dam Busters
documentary. The film will also
be available in a Special Collector’s
Edition featuring a 64-page booklet,
a print of a rare aerial photograph
showing the Möhne Dam following
the attack, and a set of five art cards.
