BIG WINDOWS
The aircraft parked at Icon Avia-
tion apron calls the attention for
its huge windows, very different
from those adopted in previous
versions, such as those of the ve-
teran Global Express. A conversa-
tion between those observing the
beautiful jet taxiing concludes that
some business jets imposed them-
selves as an executive aircraft for
their wide windows. The Global,
until then, seemed to be any com-
mercial aircraft with its modest
windows. This has changed with
the Global 7500, whose windows
are 80% larger than the previous
model.
As I like aerodynamics, I always
analyze the wings of an aircraft,
although I am far from evaluating
a project of such complexity, after
all, it is not necessary to be one of
the project engineers to be able
to admire or even to evaluate the
airfoil construction. Yes, the wing
is a masterpiece. It has practically
the same 35.3 degrees of any quar-
ter chord wing sweep of the old
Global, but it has finer cord ratio
and smoother bodyworks, which
provide better lift and drag perfor-
mance. Winglets are more efficient
and Bombardier has got a per-
formance up to 30% better in low
speed thanks the double opening
Fowler flaps.

INSIDE T HE JET
When climbing the stair, which
was given special attention to
details, such as opaque handrails,
which, in addition to nice, prevent

stains in the chrome plated fini-
shing; it jumped me in the eyes
the huge galley. Considered the
largest of the type in a purely busi-
ness aircraft (without considering
models derived from commercial
aircrafts), the galley has wide room
for the movements of a stewardess,
and allows mounting without diffi-
culty elaborated dishes.
The aircraft finishing reminds
the black piano, with basin, elec-
tric ovens, coffeemaker and an im-
peccable crystal cupboard. Beside
a lavatory dedicated to the crew
there is an ample rest area for the
crew, maintaining both pilots and
executives within their respective
privacy zones. One more step, and
the issue is turning to the right
and to recognize the interior, or to
the left and visit the cockpit...
As a pilot I was tempted to go
soon to the cockpit, but the 40.47
square meter cabin with standard
configuration, larger than any
other model of the category, with
four cabin zones, deserved a prio-
rity. Three or four zones may seem
indifferent, since comfort will not
be a problem. However, designers
were able to create a fairly interes-
ting fourth zone.
Going through the galley there
is access to the aircraft common
area, which can be configured as
meeting room, dining room, and
office, among others. Internal
configuration allows numberless
layout combinations; in the case of
the demonstrator, we had the first
section with club seat with four

seats of 21 inches width, followed
by a six seat configuration, with
dining or meeting table.

COMFORT ZONES
The space allows displacements
without difficulties even with
dining tables mounted on both
sides. External lighting, thanks
to the ample windows, creates a
fairly inviting atmosphere. Folding
working tables extend to provide
continuous flat surfaces. in lt
The next section, separated by a
sliding door, similar to that exis-
ting in any jet of the type, provides
a living room, with TV set and a
three-place divan with 16G clas-
sification at the left, while at the
right there is the onboard enter-
tainment media center (IFE) with
32” TV set mounted in front of the
divan.
The fourth section is a suite,
with double bed with 121 centi-
meters width, and a side seat. The
lavatory has shower option, a must
for long range flights, allowing not
only to rest, but to be prepared for
work as soon as the aircraft lands
in destination. Although it may
seem somewhat workaholic, an
aircraft of this type is justified just-
ly for allowing unboarding soon
for a day of work and meetings.
The demonstrator finishing
was given light shades in the cabin
coating and dark shades in table
and bed woods, and in cabin de-
tails. Passengers traveling on divan
seats have personal entertainment,
being able to download in their
