BENTLEY PRIORY MUSEUM
The beautiful Grade II* listed country house that
was the headquarters of RAF Fighter Command
during the Battle of Britain houses an expanding
museum.

de Havilland DH114 Heron 2D ‘G-AOXL’ (really G-ANUO) S

IWM LONDON
The London branch of the Imperial War Museums
contains a smaller number of aircraft than it did
prior to a major refurbishment a few years ago,
but those that it does feature are displayed in
dramatic fashion, with some suspended from the
ceiling. They also include the Sopwith Camel in
which Flt Sub Lt Stuart Culley shot down Zeppelin
LZ100 on August 11, 1918.

ROYAL AIR FORCE MUSEUM LONDON
A visit to the RAF Museum at Hendon is a must,
telling as it does the story of the service from its
beginnings in the Royal Flying Corps to today.
Substantial redevelopment is taking place to mark
the RAF’s centenary in 2018, with new exhibitions


  • looking at the first 100 years of the RAF, as
    well as the service now and in the future – being
    accompanied by a transformation of the Hendon
    site. The results will be ready this summer.
