outstanding Midland Air Museum, which marked
its 50th anniversary last year, are the sole
representatives of their respective types in any
UK collection. It incorporates the Sir Frank Whittle
Jet Heritage Centre.

A former railway goods depot has been turned

into a transport museum for Wolverhampton,

including several aircraft exhibits with local

connections. Among them are Boulton Paul-

related items provided by the Staffordshire

The BDAC’s museum is now well established at

historic Old Sarum airfield. Its collection contains

many aircraft – whether in complete or cockpit

form – that were connected to test flying at

nearby Boscombe Down.
