JUST A SHORT walk from Zayed

Sports City and located equal

distances from Yas Island and

downtown Abu Dhabi, the Hilton

Capital Grand is right in the

middle of everything.

This obviously works to the

hotel’s advantage, but we’re still

quite suprised to see that the

hotel’s poolside bar, Noche,

is so busy when we visit early

on a Thursday evening.

Like us, many of the guests

have clearly headed here straight

from work to start their weekend

as early as possible.

There are loads of sofas

outside near the pool, and a big

indoor area with a wide bar.

Noche specialises in Latin

American dishes, and this theme

is continued into the décor with

bright yellow cushions scattered

over the leather booths, and a big

symbol of a sun up on the wall.

There are also platters of

Arabian mezze, but today

we’re simply in search of

a refreshing beverage.

We start off by asking

our server if there are

any deals or offers on.

She looks confused and

wonders off to check,

and it’s a while before

someone else comes over and

tells us it’s just hops that are on

offer today.

A tad disappointed, we

eventually settle on our drinks

It’s not the cheapest of rounds

we’ve ever bought in the capital,

but we feel that the pleasant

setting justiÀes the price.

It describes itself as a ‘chill-out

lounge’ and it’s certainly a nice

place to relax in after a busy day.

With so many people chatting

happily around us, there’s an

upbeat atmosphere that makes

us feel very content with life.

We leave in a very good mood.

The ShakeDown perform rock anthems,

country hits and more on Fridays, while

funk jam band Carl & The Reda MaÀa
