tickets for one of the 75-ball
games in Bingo Lounge later
that afternoon.
Popping my phone in my
bag, Kristian and I set off.
I thought nothing more
of it until a couple
of hours later,
when I heard my
phone ping.
Fishing it out of
my bag I checked
my messages, had
a quick look at the
Bingo too.
‘Blimey, I just
need one more number and
the jackpot could be mine!’
I gasped.
And as I watched the screen,
it started flashing, with lots of
bright lights and an explosion
of colour. I stopped in

my tracks.
‘Are you OK?’ Kristian asked.
‘I’ve just won £3,011!’
I gasped.
‘Don’t be ridiculous,’
he chuckled.
I shoved the
phone under his
nose and watched
him goggle in
disbelief as he
saw the number –
£3,011.
‘Believe me now?’
I grinned.
He threw
his arms around me.
‘Never mind tins of paint
now, why don’t we really glam
up the house?’ he said.
‘And treat the kids,’ I
beamed. We had four
living with us. Talk about

Back home I got planning,
walking through the house
making a checklist of
everything I wanted to change.
First, we got a new bath
installed, and fitted beautiful
grey carpets throughout.
Then I removed the
old black kitchen flooring
replacing it with new tile-effect
lino. I spruced up the kitchen
with new pink and grey
wallpaper too.
Then, it was time to tackle
the kids’ rooms. We painted
one of the rooms different
shades of purple, and the
other blue and white.
And when it came to mine
and Kristian’s room, I couldn’t
wait for the new wallpaper to
go up. I picked one with
turquoise and grey roses
and loved it!
But the best bit was the
garden transformation. It was
