W SOUTHERN
BEEHIVE
Carl Tanner
Also known as the
Diamond Cluster
and NGC 2516, the
Southern Beehive is a
pretty open star cluster
in Carina that’s easily
visible to the unaided
eye. For this shot, Carl
used the iTelescope
t68 Celestron 28-cm
RASA in Bathurst,
NSW, which was
fitted with a ZWO
ASI1600MC-C camera.
The exposure was
15x 60-second sub-
frames.
S LUNAR DAWN Glenn Krause
Glenn snapped this image of the Moon in the
brightening morning sky (the Sun had just risen). The
area shown includes the Sea of Tranquillity, the Sea of
Serenity and the Sea of Vapors... landing sites of four
of the Apollo missions. The shot was taken using a
Samsung Galaxy S9+ using the afocal method with a
Dobsonian-mounted 30-cm reflector.
