New Zealand Company’s Successful Four-Day Week
T
he jury was out when the
Auckland-based firm Perpetual
Guardian decided to trial a four-
day week on their 240 staf. Yet this
controversial experiment was an
unmitigated success for the company
that manages wills and estates. From
March to April this year staf delighted
in their three-day weekends.
They enjoyed fantastic work-life
balance and a full-time pay packet.
From a business perspective, it was
also a victory. Staf reported that
they felt less stressed and were
more productive during their time
at work (including spending less
personal time on social media).
Sounds great to us!
