LETTER OF THE MONTH

We were recently camped out at
Tamala Station in WA and these
skewers made it feel like we
were at a fi ve star restaurant
(except for the fl ies). The beauty
of the ingredients list too is each
item is something most people
carry anyway so no need to do
an elusive shop before hitting
the road.

  • 1 pack of bamboo skewers

  • 4 chicken breasts cut into
    small cubes

  • 3 tsp minced garlic

  • 3/4 cup beer (XXXX worked
    beautifully)

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1 tsp chilli fl akes/paste

  • 1 tsp dijon mustard

  • 1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  1. It helps if you pre-cut the
    chicken breast before leaving
    for your trip or purchase
    diced chicken breast from
    your local supermarket.

  2. Mix all of the ingredients

together in a medium sized
bowl, enough to cover the
chicken pieces and let sit for
2 hours (or as many beers as
you like)

  1. Thread the chicken onto the
    bamboo skewers and place
    on the grill turning every
    few minutes so the
    sauce doesn’t burn.

  2. Serve with a side salad or
tins of veggies on the fi re.

Serves 4
I hope you love it as much
as we did!

TAILSHAFT WOES

BEER & HONEY BBQ CHICKEN SKEWERS

Hi 4WD Action,
My name is Harry and I have an issue. I’ve had a couple of people
look at my ordeal but can’t give me a proper answer.
I’m need to ask a question regarding my 80 series Landcruiser.
I got the 4 inch Supafl ex kit from Superior Engineering in my 80
(the same kit Shaun is running which I why I went for this kit), and
since lifted its making a vibrating and grinding noise when going
down a hill with half acceleration. It has the gearbox spacers to
drop it down and the front tailshaft spacer and yet the noise is
horrendous to hear inside at highway speed. Do you guys know
what is causing the noise and how do I fi x it because I have a trip
coming up and want it fi xed by then. Thanks for your time.

Hi mate,
It’s hard to diagnose via email but you’re running the right gear to
prevent tailshaft vibration, so the next step would be to replace the
uni-joints. Pull the tailshaft and check for any place at all in either of
the uni joints in either the front or the rear shaft.
If there’s even the tiniest bit of freeplay then you’ve found your
problem. Unfortunately after that it’ll be a case of getting it to a
proper 4WD mechanic who has experience with big lifted trucks.
If you’re in Sydney give Chris at Superior Offroad 4WD at
Smithfi eld a call on (02) 9757 1405.
All the best with it
