f Coco Mademoiselle is the
pretty younger sister of Chanel’s
fragrance family, then the new
Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
Intense is her sexier, sassier,
party-loving twin: the one fra-
grance friend you enlist after dark when
you want to ramp up the seduction.
Coco Mademoiselle Intense is the
fourth fragrance in the Coco Mademoi-
selle collection and, like the others,
shares the same oriental DNA of Sicil-
ian orange and Calabrian bergamot,
blended with a heart of jasmine and
rose absolute. But the new incarnation
ofers a richness not encountered before
in the Coco Mademoiselle line. Chanel’s
perfumer, Olivier Polge, has deepened
the formulation for a scent that’s bolder,
more sensual and ideal for evening.
“I wanted to remain close to
the original formula while giving it a
whole new dimension,” says Polge. “This
new fragrance is an oriental-woody-
amber fragrance with a stronger, more
intense, more sensual character.”
That depth is largely due to a
boost in one of Chanel’s much-loved
notes, patchouli. Or, to be precise, frac-
tioned patchouli, which Chanel devised
20 years ago by re-distilling the plant to
obtain only its woody heart.
