“I’VE had this 1968 SS Camaro for 18 years now; it’s
an ongoing project. I purchased it from a guy in Mount
Macedon; it had a 350 Chev, four-speed and 12-bolt
diff at the time. Now it runs a 400ci small-block
pushing out around 550hp, with a Scat crank, Icon
forged pistons, Scat H-beam rods, Crow hydraulic-
roller cam, Edelbrock Victor alloy heads and Yella Terra
shaft rockers. On top is an Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap
manifold and 750 Holley carby, with spark coming
from an ICE ignition system. A 350 trans with a shift
kit and 3500 Dominator stall converter gets the power
back to a shortened 12-bolt diff with a Truetrac centre
and Moser axles. She rides on Air Ride suspension
with ShockWaves and a four-link set-up. I’ve got
tubular A-arms up front and self-levellers as well. The
paint is the same as when I purchased it, with just a
few touch-ups, and I also redid the interior to original
specs. Next will be a self-tuning EFI system and a
digital dash.” Photos: Caprice Photography

“THIS is my EK Holden; I’ve had it for 15
years and built it for my wife as a cool
factory-looking old car. The paint and
interior are still original, with only one
repair back in the 60s. I got a bit carried
away with it and made a full chassis with
a new floor for clearance, fitted an HR
front end and HQ brakes all ’round. Then
I threw in a 350 Chev, TH400 and nine-
inch diff with 3.0:1 gears. One weekend

we went to the Ballarat Swap Meet and
I scored a tunnel ram for another car, but
my boys convinced me to put it on the EK
instead. I took it to Summernats this year
and had a great time cruising, and the
burnout went well until I melted the shift
cable in Drive. I still didn’t stop cruising
though! I’ve since removed the tunnel
ram to quieten it down a bit.” Photos:
