hat do you do when your job
is to eliminate mutants, but
you find out that your own
two children are on your hit list? Such
is the dilemma facing Reed Strucker in
FOX8’s anticipated new series The Gifted.
“You never know you’re a mutant until
it happens the first time. On this day,
everything changes... forever,” teenage
daughter Lauren (Natalie Alyn Lind)
ominously forewarns.
Indeed it does and, in this ofering
from Marvel, the Struckers (pictured
centre from left, Percy Hynes White,
Amy Acker, Stephen Moyer and Lind)
find themselves on the run from a ruthless
government and having to unite with an
underground group of mutants to survive.
Moyer plays stoic father Reed and is best
known for roles in the risqué True Blood
and the hard-hitting Safe House. He’s
pleased this is the first time
his children have been
impressed by his work.
“My 15- and 17-year-olds are finally
able to watch The Gifted in a way that
really nothing I’ve ever done before
has allowed,” he tells Foxtel magazine
of eldest children Lilac and Billy. “I’m not
gonna lie, it’s nice when your kid goes,
‘I really like the show, mate’.”
He adds with a laugh: “Nobody is more
surprised [than me] when my
17-year-old extremely cool
son says, ‘I think you’re
really good in the show,
Dad’. That’s as good
as it gets. I’ll take it!”
