here’s nothing quite like revelling
in the sweet strains of a symphony
orchestra while incredible natural
history footage from around the world
plays out on the screen. Breathtaking new
program Symphony for Our World ofers
you just that, but with serious undertones.
It’s the 48th year since Earth Day was
founded and significant annual events
demonstrate support for environmental
protection through various global markers
in more than 193 countries.
In backing Earth Day, this hour-long
program journeys around our beautiful
planet synchronised with the superlative
orchestral sounds created by Emmy-
and BAFTA-nominated music production
company Bleeding Fingers Music.
Australia has joined this initiative and
serious star power is behind it, including
actor Leonardo DiCaprio – who is one
of the most committed and outspoken
conservationists in Hollywood.
“As we progress into the 21st century,
anyone who considers themselves realists
will have to make the environment a top
priority,” The Revenant’s leading man said
as Earth Day chairman. “The truth is our
planet’s alarm is now going of, and it’s
time to finally wake up and take action.”
DiCaprio hit the nail on the head,
saying, “We only have one planet” and
the unique Symphony for Our World
conveys this powerful and urgent
message on an international scale.
“This disaster has grown beyond the
choices individuals make,” DiCaprio
declared in a 2014 speech to the United
Nations. “This is now about industries
and governments taking decisive action.”
