ASTRA CODES OF PRACTICE
The Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) has developed Codes
of Practice for subscription television broadcasting and narrowcasting services which set out
obligations in relation to issues such as the classification of programming. The Codes also
provide a framework for the handling of customer complaints and disputes about issues

from HBO that had us all glued
to our screens in 2016. Revolving
around a Western theme park and
the beautiful hosts – or “machines”
as the cast calls them – that roam
the fantastical playground dutifully
attending to paying patrons’ every
desires, thriller Westworld is truly
like none other.
Back this month for season two,
Thandie Newton, who plays former
madam Maeve Millay, agrees with
co-star Evan Rachel Wood that the
addictive drama has thrown up
some of the most satisfying and
challenging scenes of her career.
Of particular note are those
where the hosts – controlled by
humans – are stripped bare.
“I didn’t do it lightly,” Newton
explains. “It was deeply disturbing,
but at the same time I did feel this
incredible peace.”
