says viewers will be satisfied. Though he
stops short of confirming they’ll have their
own fairytale wedding.
“There has never been any questions that
they’re in love,” he says. “The timing of how
I was feeling [about leaving Suits] and what
was going on in Meghan’s life created an
opportunity where there was no need to force
some conflict or tear Mike and Rachel apart.
It allowed us to go on to whatever happens
next for Mike and Rachel together.”
W
hen it was first announced
that actress Meghan Markle
was to wed Prince Harry,
one of the first people to
publicly congratulate her was her Suits
co-star Patrick J Adams.
After seven seasons playing love
interests Rachel Zane and Mike Ross,
Adams showcased the fun-loving
friendship he shares with his on-screen
fiancée in a simple social media post.
“She said she was just going out to
get some milk,” Adams wrote.
He backed it up with a sweet post
proving the pair’s firm bond.
“Playing Meghan’s television partner
for the better part of a decade uniquely
qualifies me to say this: Your Royal
Highness, you are a lucky man and
I know your long life together will be
joyful, productive and hilarious. Meghan,
so happy for you, friend. Much love.”
The 36-year-old American actress was
showered with well-wishes from around
the globe when her engagement to
Prince Harry was ocially unveiled in
November last year. Her Suits colleagues,
including leading man Gabriel Macht, who
plays smooth-talking Harvey Specter, and
Sarah Raferty – the actress behind one
of the show’s most popular characters,
Donna – joined the chorus.
Clearly a fiercely protective and loyal
bunch, co-star Wendell Pierce – the man
tasked with portraying Markle’s father
Robert on the show – reveals the performer
was sharing details of her new love with
her closest friends on set, albeit discreetly.
News of Prince Harry’s union first surfaced
in October 2016.
“She met this nice guy and we always
talked about him in code, really,” Pierce
says. “You know, ‘How you doing?’
‘Oh, I’m going to London, coming from
London, whatever’.”
Over the years the tight-knit cast has
spoken of how they forged a “Suits family”
due to the production filming in Toronto,
Canada rather than Hollywood. They were
all forced out of their comfort zones, some
away from their loved ones for weeks
on end, to make the series work.
“We’re all really close in real-life, which
is lucky,” Raferty tells Foxtel magazine.
“We’ve been doing this show for a long
time; we are each other’s family.”
As the season seven finale approaches
this month, Suits fans are readying themselves
for the exit of two major characters: Rachel
and Mike. Markle’s departure was imminent
as she heads towards her real-life nuptials
on Saturday May 19.
“It’s a new chapter, right?” she said about
stepping out of Rachel’s designer heels during
her first joint interview with her husband-to-be
in November. “I’ve been working on [Suits]
for seven years. We were very, very fortunate
to have that sort of longevity on a series.
I’ve ticked this box and I feel very proud
of the work I’ve done there, and now it’s
time to work with [Harry] as a team.”
However, audiences were caught a little
of-guard when Adams quit earlier this year.
“As we were starting to talk about
renegotiating contracts [for season eight
and beyond], I took a moment,” he told
The Hollywood Reporter. “I had this voice
in my head that said that we’ve told his story
and, if he hangs out longer, Mike is just
going to be another lawyer on television.”
While he remains tight-lipped on exactly
how the couple will leave the series, Adams
