In the digital age we live in – where selfies

and doctored shots swamp our social media

  • it’s wonderful to witness the making of

exceptional pieces of art for this event.

The annual Landscape Artist of the Year

puts up-and-coming painters in the spotlight.

And, if they’ve got what it takes, their work

could be hung in a major English gallery

or score a £10,000 (more than AU$17,000)

commission from a lucky bidder.

Presented by British TV personalities

Joan Bakewell and Frank Skinner (both

pictured), the competition is documented

over nine, one-hour episodes so viewers

can also enjoy a piece of the action.

Tuesdays from April 10 at 7.30pm

on foxtel arts [133/806]

As viewers get a front-row seat to the

shocking power struggles of the notorious

Mapogo lion coalition in South Africa, we

venture deep into the pride to bring you the

most fascinating facts about the majestic

creatures featured...

1

Leaders of the pack

The Mapogo pride (pictured) – made

up of five brothers and led by the powerful

newcomer Makhulu – ruthlessly rules over

Sabi Sand Game Reserve in the famed

Greater Kruger National Park. Their brutal

reign of terror has seen them kill more than

100 lions in one year, wiping out whole tribes

  • a feat previously unheard of by experts.

2

Kill or be killed

A relentless quest for supremacy

among the tribe results in cub Mr T betraying

his brothers in the most unimaginable way

possible. You have to see it to believe it.

3

Eye-opening observation

This documentary was 16 years in the

making and weaves a vivid tale of violence,

bloodshed and betrayal within the animal

kingdom. The footage has shed light on the

extreme lengths the pack is willing to go to

in order to expand their territory.

When the fifth season of reality series

Southern Charm returns this week, love

takes centrestage, with more make-ups,

break-ups and brutal rejections than the

best romance novel.

A dejected Shepard ‘Shep’ Rose

(pictured) is back on the Charleston

social scene and in hot demand

following his failed attempt at finding

love on spin-o show RelationShep.

However, still smarting over his very

public heartbreak, the eligible bachelor

can’t help but question whether he’s

cut out for the dating life after all. Can

Chelsea Meissner – who returns as

a fully-fledged cast member this time

around – help change his mind?

Elsewhere, Cameran Eubanks’ final

weeks of pregnancy and the subsequent

birth of daughter Palmer feature heavily.

But if you think that the new mum will

take a step back from all the drama once

her baby is born, think again!

With Craig Conover and Naomie Olindo

having parted ways since last season,

expect plenty of awkward encounters

as they struggle to find their footing as

friends in the all-too-small town.

Wednesdays from April 11 at 9.30pm on Arena [105]
