Poodle party Beanie is not the only Toy Poodle living in
this East Brunswick home. He shares it with his brother
Bilbo, who belongs to Emma and Lucas’s best friends Ruby
and Max. “Living with Beanie and Bilbo is like living with two
other humans,” Emma says. “I feel like we understand each

How did you and Beanie
meet? We fell in love instantly on
a beautiful property in Somerville,
Victoria. I grew up on a farm with
big dogs and had never seen
a puppy as small as Bean, but
now I can’t imagine owning
anything other than a Toy Poodle.
What’s the craziest thing
you’ve ever done for Beanie?
I wanted him to have a groovy
haircut, so I asked the groomer
to clip the fur on his legs into
poodle flares. When I picked him
up, they’d given him these
hilarious little bell bottoms.
How do you think Beanie’s
companionship has improved
your wellbeing? He’s a little
ray of sunshine and even when
he’s behaving like a little terror,
he still makes us smile.
Is Beanie pro or against
clothes for dogs? Pro. My
favourite outfit of his is this
fur-trimmed puffer vest my best
friend got him. It’s very Jennifer
Lopez in the All I Have video clip.
Does Beanie have any party
tricks? If he really wants
something, he’ll do this funny
salsa dance on hind legs. It’s so
charming and we always cave.
The last show Beanie binge-
watched with you? We’re
currently very deep in The
Sopranos, but he’s been known
to enjoy an episode or two of
Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
What do you love most about
Beanie? How he puts his paws
around my shoulders like a baby
when he cuddles me. RScaredy pup Beanie’s oddest
character trait? “He has a strange fear
of flies,” Emma says. “When he can hear
