Cosy nook “The cane sofa was an incredible Vinnies find by my sister. I had
leather cushions reupholstered while we were on holiday in Bali,” Jes says.
Organic textures Jes and Michael used lots of natural elements in the
kitchen and sourced Australian ironbark timber for the benchtops (right).

SEA BREEZE, SALT ON YOUR SKIN AND SAND BETWEEN YOUR TOES... this is what Jes Saddington
of bedlinen brand Dazed But Amazed loves most about living by the beachside suburb of Newcastle’s
Merewether. Jes and her husband Michael live on the bottom floor of his childhood home, originally built
in 1988 by his parents. The house is now home to four generations, with Michael’s parents and granddad
living upstairs. “It’s a magical way for our kids to grow up, and in an unbeatable location,” Jes says.
HOME TO STAY The couple moved into the family home when Jes was pregnant, five years ago. In
a plan to save money to renovate their own home two minutes up the road, they decided to move in.
But they loved the space so much, they decided to stay and renovate the downstairs area to make it their
own. The renovation took six months with the couple knocking a few walls out to create an open-plan
living space, taking up old tiles and polishing the concrete underneath. An in-ground storage space
was converted into two new bedrooms and a custom kitchen was installed, plus a fresh lick of paint.
LAIDBACK LIVING The style of their home embodies what Jes loves most: beachside living, vintage
vibes and a healthy attitude for a relaxed Australian lifestyle. Jes describes her home as “a jumble of all
my loves. It’s a mid-century modern, beach house, eclectic, vintage mixer. There are no rules!” Except
when it comes to bedlinen. “Having a healthy home was the catalyst for my journey in linen manufacturing.
Both Michael and Dash suffer from asthma and pure flax linen is the most ideal fibre for those with
allergies. At the time of launching Dazed back in 2015, I found it impossible to find pure linen bedding for
children so I decided to create my own,” Jes says. Now, after much demand, Jes has expanded the range
to include bedlinen for adults too, which no doubt pleases the other three generations living in her home. R
