he real world is a great place, but it
has its limitations — in terms of rules,
money, or even what is physically
possible. Fortunately, in the realms
of the imagination, such limitations can beovercome. We’ve compiled the Concept Corner
features from throughout 2017, from the totally
realistic to the downright crazy, to get an insight
into the diverse minds of NZV8 readers and
feature car owners.The Wildest
Angle-grind the floor and firewalls out of
a ’69 Chev Corvair, drop the lot over an
F5000 tube frame, and pull the five-litre
small block for a 600ci CFE Racing Products
small block for mad grunt. Once that’s
done, add a custom widebody kit based on
Frank Gardner’s iconic Corvair touring car of
the ’70s, with appropriate period livery, and
this thing would be all set for its intended
purpose of smashing the Pikes Peak
International Hill Climb. Hell yeah!

he could have been talking about this
abomination of an FG Falcon. It only seemed
fitting to think up a modern-day version of
the iconic Mad Max XB, having one on that
issue’s cover, and this thing certainly is one
— not that it’d ever win any post-apocalyptic
beauty pageants!
Internet Points
We upload each month’s Concept Corner
to themotorhood.com, and share it on the
NZV8 Facebook page, and some get more
attention than others. As far as the past year
goes, the concept to get the most internet
attention would have to have been Rob and
Lisa Cooper’s HSV VF GTSR Group C, finished
in a very hot pink — some loved it, some hated
it, and a few just didn’t get it.
