I
f anyone tells you that a 910lb·ft 6.6-litre diesel
motor is overkill, tell them that you can’t be
friends any more. This monster motor is what the
2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD is packing. That power
house is backed by a six-speed Allison automatic
transmission, which would normally send power to
all four wheels.
The All Mountain concept takes the madness a
bit further, with Mattracks tracks replacing the
rubber on all four corners, making the vehicle into
the ultimate winter machine in areas such as Vail,
Colorado, where it was unveiled recently.
As well as the tracks, the All Mountain package
includes custom graphics, a Rigid E-Series 30-inch
light bar, LEDs on the wheel wells and underbody,
Thule snowboard racks, a roll-up tonneau cover,
and a Kicker speaker system. Chances are that if
you have to ask the price, you can’t afford it.
T
he Hennessey name will probably ring a bell,
thanks to the tuning house’s wild creations
— always taking factory performance offerings
and making them even loonier, most often with
generous servings of forced induction. It would
appear things are set to be turned up another
notch on the crazy scale, with Hennessey revealing
the all-new Hennessey Venom F5 — a hypercar

W
hat a time to be alive! You may have
read in our last issue that Mopar is
releasing the 707hp supercharged 6.2-litre
Hemi that powers the crazy Hellcat models as
a stand-alone package, dubbed the ‘Hellcrate’.
However, history has proven time and time
again, whatever the OEMs do, the aftermarket
will do one better.
Now, the aftermarket go-fast wizards at
Edelbrock have added to their E-Force
supercharged crate-engine range, with
a supercharged 426ci Gen III Hemi crate
engine, said to be good for 808hp and
762lb·ft. This is achieved by filling a Mopar
392 iron block with a forged rotating
assembly, custom Comp Cams camshaft,
Edelbrock Performer RPM alloy heads, and an
Edelbrock E-Force R2650 supercharger. The
best part is that a two-year, unlimited-mileage
warranty is included.
We’re expecting to see a few rad builds
stateside powered by one of these, and are sure
that it’s only a matter of time before some local
cashed-up Mopar nut decides this is just what
they need!
designed with the sole goal of being the fastest
road car on the planet.
With a twin-turbo V8 engine, seven-speed paddle-
shift transmission, and aerodynamically designed
carbon fibre on an aluminium chassis, the vehicle
is expected to have a top speed of 300mph.
The company has stated a base price of US$1.6M,
with planned production of just 24 units.
Ambitious? Most definitely, but it’s a project we’ll
be keeping an eye on to see how things pan out.
